Seattle, WA: Getting Ready & Getting There

Books – Mercer Girls by Libbie Hawker, is a fictional story of a true account reflecting Asa Mercer’s delivery of mail-order brides to the men of the Seattle logging industry in the last 1800s. The late 1960s TV series, Here Come the Brides, was based on this account.

Getting There – Drive if you must, or FLY.

- Drive: It’s a long haul from just about anywhere other than Portland.
- Fly: My favorite airlines to Seattle are Southwest and Alaska.

Seattle, WA: Getting Around & Accommodations

Getting Around – I prefer Lyft or Uber. No need to rent a car and pay for expensive parking.

Accommodations – My absolutely favorite place to stay in the city is Hyatt Olive 8 Downtown, but it’s always a good idea to utilize your hotel points with your favorite chain, or try Hotels.com or Booking.com for your personal preferences.

Seattle, WA: Eating & Drinking

Restaurants/Bars – Only having been here twice, I don’t have a lot of recommendations, but I’ve listed the restaurants that were so wonderful, I actually remembered them:

- Bathtub Gin & Co . – Nestled in basement of old brick hotel!
- Beecher’s Handmade Cheese – “World’s Best” Mac & Cheese!
- Collections Cafe (w/Chihuly Glass) – Visit the collection, too!
- Dahlia Lounge – Local, sustainable and organic – try Coconut Cream Pie!
- Elliott’s Oyster House – On the dock for the boat tours – YUM!
- Five Point Cafe – 24 hours of American meals – grab a Bloody Mary!
- Fran’s Chocolates – Not exactly a restaurant, but mouth watering!
- Lola’s – Pacific Northwest/Greek cuisine w/local ingredients!
- Taylor Shellfish – Oysters, seafood and adult beverages!

Just outside Seattle:

- Copperleaf Restaurant – Just out of the city at Cedarbrook Lodge
- Wally’s ChowderHouse – Actually in Des Moines, WA outside Seattle
