Reno, NV: Getting Around & Accommodations

Getting Around:

    • If you don’t drive here, this is an area that you really need to rent a vehicle, so if you fly, just check with whatever airlines you choose for their best rental car deals.
    • If you take a bus, I would recommend just take an Lyft or Uber to the airport to pick up your rental car. It is an easy airport to maneuver.

Accommodations:

RENO

Just to enjoy the history of Reno, I would highly recommend the Peppermill Reno Resort, a Premier AAA Four Diamond resort, boasting 1,621 luxurious guest rooms. Resort amenities include a posh 9,900-square-foot fitness center; two beautiful pools and three outdoor jetted spas, heated with on-site geothermal energy; and a designer boutique shopping.  An exciting assortment of bars and lounges, including the iconic Fireside Lounge; and 9 award-winning restaurants offering authentic Chinese, inspired Italian, steaks and chops, seafood, deli and café dining.

TAHOE

I have not yet spent an over night trip here, but I will be adding my suggestions from friends who visit here often!

CARSON CITY

In my search for a historic hotel, I found the Federal Hotel, which was conveniently located for everything I wanted to explore in Carson City. You can leave you car parked in their free parking lot and walk to just about anyplace you desire! Located in the heart of the city, this hotel is within walking distance of the State Capitol Building, historic downtown and the Brewery Arts Center.

VIRGINIA CITY

I have yet to spend the night in Virginia City, but a friend and experienced traveler recommends the Tahoe House Hotel. Imagine you’ve been transported back in time, and experience what it was like to saddle up to a saloon, explore a mine or ride a steam train through the Wild West.  At the Tahoe House Hotel, they may not know how the West was won, but they have been winning hearts since the grand re-opening in early 2020.  This charming, historic hotel dates back to 1859 and is located in the heart of historic Virginia City.
