Travel Tips

Getting There

    • Sign up for all frequent flyer points on EVERY airlines, especially since many airlines are merged and points on one airline, can be added to another.
    • Follow The Points Guy and One Mile at a Time.
    • Register for Priority Pass, which will allow you Airport Lounge Access worldwide.
    • If traveling to Europe, search for business class sales on any airlines and get a puddle jumper to your destination. It’s worth it to arrive refreshed and comfortable.
    • Within the USA, be open to travel by Amtrak.com.  Amtrak has some wonderful vacation options, and I would recommend booking either a roomette or bedroom, which includes all meals! I have some great tips from fellow train travelers to make your experience more pleasant – just email me.
    • Also within the USA, don’t forget about Greyhound.com. It isn’t your “parent’s” Greyhound anymore – free Wi-Fi and outlets, comfortable seats and on-time travel.

Airlines Travel

    • As a lifelong bodyworker, I have worked on so many shoulder & back injuries from people trying to haul their luggage in the overhead bins on airplanes, so PLEASE check your bags and save your body! And if you need to rely on others to haul your bags overhead, you can cause them physical damage as well. Please travel responsibly. Is an injury that will cost hundreds of dollars to heal, worth more than $30-$50 for checked luggage? Plus, with the bar codes on all luggage tags, it’s much less rare that luggage goes to the wrong destination.
    • If you are really worried about your luggage, you can always get a GPS tracker. I purchased one to keep in my luggage for my trip to Havana, Cuba, and it gave me great peace of mind. I always knew where my luggage was.

Face Your Fears

2020 was originally filled with exciting international travel, as well as, US travel to (now cancelled) events that have been on my To-Do list for years. So, I adapted. Life is really still happening out there – and it’s LOVELY! I traveled every month since March 2020 – and everything was perfectly safe. I still hope to go to the many places I had to cancel!

Financing

    • Look for deals on travel related credit cards – they often will give you more than the cost of the credit card’s yearly fee, IF you use it for travel exclusively.
    • Open a checking account with Schwab, as they will refund any ATM fees worldwide.
